Overview:
In this June 20 keynote presentation for PSQH’s Risk Management NOW, Marcus Schabacker, MD, PhD, president and CEO of ECRI, will join moderator Jay Kumar, Editor-in-Chief of PSQH, for a fireside chat about what healthcare organizations must to do to prepare for the imminent threat of cybersecurity attacks.
Dr. Marcus Schabacker became president and chief executive officer of ECRI in January 2018. Dr. Schabacker is a board-certified anesthesiologist and intensive care specialist with more than 35 years of healthcare experience in complex global environments, and more than 20 years of senior leadership responsibilities serving the medical device and pharmaceutical industries across the healthcare value chain.
After his medical and academic training at the Medical University of Lubeck, Germany, Dr. Schabacker served as senior medical officer and head of the intensive care and anesthesia department at the Mafikeng General Hospital, North-West Province, South Africa. His work there was part of a humanitarian aid program to support the African National Congress government under Nelson Mandela in the restructuring and buildup of a rural healthcare system in post-apartheid South Africa.
In his last corporate role prior to joining ECRI, Dr. Schabacker served as corporate vice president and chief scientific officer at Baxter. During his clinical years, and his time as an industry thought leader, Dr. Schabacker was focused on patient safety and enhancing patient care.

Taylor Potoczak joined Cleveland Clinic in 2014 and currently serves as a Director of Finance in Enterprise Risk & Insurance. She specializes in operations and system implementations, having led or been involved in the integrations of various applications including Governance Risk & Compliance (GRC), Integrated Risk Management (IRM), Third Party Risk Management (TPRM), Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS), and Clinical Risk Management (CRM) tools.
Taylor’s current responsibilities include administration of Cleveland Clinic’s captive insurance company and management of associated claims, along with a focus on the organization’s ERM process. She graduated from Miami University with a BS in Marketing and is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management.
Anooja Cannon is a skilled business professional with over ten years’ experience in the healthcare and insurance industries. As a Senior Market Strategy Lead at Origami Risk, Anooja’s focus is to drive the overall vision, direction, and execution of Origami's strategy within the healthcare market. Prior to her role as MSL, Anooja held the role of Senior Client Executive where she was responsible for the implementation of new projects, providing ongoing support services, and delivering innovative solutions for clients.
Before joining Origami Risk, Anooja worked as a Manager of Medicaid Business Development at Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC), where she developed and executed on a collaborative model to increase Medicaid quality performance measures (HEDIS performance) across the enterprise. She also led the development of a winning response to New Mexico state’s request for proposal (RFP) for the re-procurement of their Medicaid managed care program. In her previous work, Anooja held various positions of increasing responsibility at the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System (UI Health), where she implemented and oversaw various enterprise-wide projects to help provide enhanced patient care and safety.
Anooja also serves as adjunct faculty at Loyola University Chicago in the Healthcare Administration undergraduate program, where she teaches the Healthcare Data Analytics course. Anooja holds a master’s degree in Health Systems Management from Rush University, as well as a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University Chicago (Go Ramblers!). Anooja is also a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ).
